Our story

From a Two-Car Garage to the Biggest Shop in Metro Detroit

  1. It started at 15

Sam started out as a wheel and tire specialist at 15 and spent the next six years working in shops, learning how cars come apart and go back together.

  2. 2018: a two-car garage

Sam and Abbas opened Buff X in a two-car garage. The first job was a full wrap on a 2014 Charger, and the name came from what they did most back then: buffing and polishing.

  3. 100,000 views, 30 to 40 DMs

Our first Instagram video passed 100,000 views and brought in 30 to 40 messages from people trying to book. That's when we knew this was going to work.

  4. 2022: the shop on W Warren

We moved into our shop at 26015 W Warren St in Dearborn Heights and kept growing the crew.

  5. Today: 18 people, 5,000+ cars

An 18-person crew with over 100 years of experience between them, and more than 5,000 cars through the shop.

The People Behind Buff X

Two founders and a crew of 18, with over 100 years of experience between them.

  • Certified installers

Our wrap and PPF installers are Avery Dennison and KPMF certified.

  • Former dealership technicians

The people taking panels off your car have done it at the dealership.

  • We speak Arabic

Talk through your car in English or Arabic, whichever you prefer.

Sam Alsaadawi

Co-founder

Sam co-founded Buff X with Abbas in 2018 and has been customizing cars for more than 10 years, going back to his first shop job at 15. He is the face of the shop online, so you can follow the builds as they come through on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

Abbas Khattab

Co-founder

Abbas has been here since the garage days. He takes care of our customers: he walks you through the consultation, explains the services we suggest for your car and why, and makes sure you love the result. Customer satisfaction is his number one priority.

We Tell You the Truth, Not What You Want to Hear

People pick us because we're honest and straightforward. Here is what that means when your car is in our shop.

  • No upselling

We tell you what your car needs. We will never say you need a service just to make a few extra bucks.

  • No cheap film

We don't use cheap Chinese film to save a couple hundred dollars. We would rather take less profit and give you a finish that lasts.

  • Panels come off when they need to

Our technicians know how to take a car apart and put it back together. If a wrap or film needs a panel off to come out flawless, it comes off.

  • Warranties on almost everything

Almost every service we offer comes with a warranty, including a lifetime warranty on window tint and a 10-year film warranty on paint protection film.

I had an amazing experience getting my Corvette tinted, all thanks to Abbas. From start to finish, he made the whole process smooth and stress free. He took the time to explain all my options, helped me pick the perfect tint, and made sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. What really stood out was his customer service, professional, patient, and genuinely caring about the final result. You can tell he takes pride in his work, and it shows in the quality. If you're thinking about getting tints or any similar work done, I highly recommend Buff X. Ask for Abbas, you won't be disappointed!

Not going to lie, I was hesitant to do the wide body kit on my trackhawk, however Sam and his team knocked it out of the park, they delivered when they said they would and wow my track hawk turned heads on the way home (a guy in a mustang almost rear ended a car staring at it. Don’t be fooled by other companies, Buff X is the place to go.
