I had an amazing experience getting my Corvette tinted, all thanks to Abbas. From start to finish, he made the whole process smooth and stress free. He took the time to explain all my options, helped me pick the perfect tint, and made sure everything was exactly how I wanted it. What really stood out was his customer service, professional, patient, and genuinely caring about the final result. You can tell he takes pride in his work, and it shows in the quality. If you're thinking about getting tints or any similar work done, I highly recommend Buff X. Ask for Abbas, you won't be disappointed!

Not going to lie, I was hesitant to do the wide body kit on my trackhawk, however Sam and his team knocked it out of the park, they delivered when they said they would and wow my track hawk turned heads on the way home (a guy in a mustang almost rear ended a car staring at it. Don’t be fooled by other companies, Buff X is the place to go.

Best shop in Michigan for custom work on your car! I take all of my vehicles to them for window tint, wraps, chrome delete, caliper wraps, and other stuff. Great customer service and they'll work with you on timing, options, etc. Sam and Abbas are the best, will always give them my business!

Correct, then coat

How We Correct and Coat a Car

A coating is only as good as the paint under it, so most of the day is spent on the paint before the bottle opens.

  1. Assess

Under shop lights we map the swirls, scratches, and oxidation so you get the correction the paint needs.

  2. Decontaminate

Hand wash, iron and tar remover, and a clay bar pull out what a normal wash leaves behind, so nothing gritty gets dragged across the paint.

  3. Correct

One or two polishing stages panel by panel, checked under lights after each pass. The 5-year package finishes with a high polish.

  4. Coat and cure

The coating goes on panel by panel in the climate-controlled bay, levels by hand, and cures before it sees water. We go over first-wash timing at pickup.

What Does Paint Correction Fix?

  • Swirl marks

The circular scratches from brush washes and dirty towels that light up in direct sun.

  • Light scratches

If your fingernail doesn't catch in it, we can usually polish it out.

  • Water spots & dull paint

White spots from rain and sprinklers, and paint that looks faded. We polish them out and bring the shine back.

Why Every Coating Starts With a Paint Correction

Swirl marks are the spiderwebs you only notice when the sun hits your paint, and they come from car washes and dirty towels. Put a coating over them and you seal them in for years. That is why every ceramic coating at Buff X Customization in Dearborn Heights, Michigan starts with a paint correction: we polish the clear coat under bright shop lights until the swirls, light scratches, and water spots are gone. Then a premium ceramic coating goes on by hand and cures into a slick, glassy shell that makes the paint look wet.

Choose how long you want it: 1 year for $750, 3 years for $995 (our most popular, and perfect for a lease), or 5 years with a high polish for $1,250. The whole job takes a day. After that, rain beads up and rolls off, bird poop wipes right off, and a wash goes by fast.

Ceramic Coating FAQs

How much does ceramic coating cost?

Every ceramic coating package at Buff X includes the paint correction: the 1-year package is $750, the 3-year package is $995, and the 5-year package is $1,250. Financing is available on jobs over $1,000.

Is paint correction included, or extra?

Paint correction is included in every ceramic coating package at Buff X. The 1-year package comes with a one-step paint correction, and the 3-year and 5-year packages come with a two-step correction (the 5-year finishes with a high polish). The coating seals in whatever is under it, so the swirls come out first on every car.

Which package is best for a lease?

The 3-year ceramic coating package at $995 is the best fit for a lease. It covers a typical lease term, and the two-step correction plus the coating means the car goes back looking better than it left the lot.

How long does ceramic coating take?

A ceramic coating at Buff X takes one day, paint correction included, whichever package you pick. Most coatings get on the calendar within the week; request a quote and we will get you in at the first opening.

Does a ceramic coating stop scratches and rock chips?

No, a ceramic coating does not stop rock chips or deep scratches. It resists light wash marks and chemical etching, but it is microns thick and will not stop a rock chip or a key. For chip protection you want paint protection film.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

One, three, or five years depending on the package you pick and how the car is cared for. The coating wears from the top down, so the gloss and water beading fade slowly instead of failing all at once. Cars parked outside and run through brush washes land on the short end; hand-washed garage cars reach the long end. A ceramic top-up spray every few months keeps the beading sharp.

What is the difference between a one-step and a two-step paint correction?

A one-step correction is a single polishing pass that takes out light swirls and haze. A two-step correction adds a compounding pass first to level deeper swirls and scratches, then the finishing polish brings the gloss back. The 5-year package finishes with a high polish on top of that. Correction cannot fix a rock chip or a scratch through the clear coat; those need touch-up or paint, and we tell you before we start.

Can I put ceramic coating over paint protection film?

Yes, and it is one of the most common combinations we do. The film stops chips and the coating keeps the film glossy, slick, and easier to wash.

How do I wash a ceramic coated car?

Use a pH-neutral car soap, two buckets, and a clean microfiber to dry. Skip automatic washes with spinning brushes, which put fine scratches in any finish. Keep the car dry for the first day after coating; we go over exact timing at pickup.

Want chip protection too? Put the coating over paint protection film. A car detail every couple of weeks keeps a coated car looking coated. Want ceramic tint for your windows? See our window tinting.
